    James Fontanella-Khan was appointed the Financial Times’ US Corporate Finance and Deals Editor in February 2018. He was previously US M&A correspondent at the FT. Prior to that, he worked on Lex and as a correspondent in Brussels, New Delhi and Mumbai. He started his career at the FT in London on the news desk in 2005. He graduated from Sciences Po, Paris. Along with Arash Massoudi, Mr Fontanella-Khan is the co-creator of the FT’s premium deals briefing called Due Diligence.

    Gavin Wood is Company Group Chairman, Johnson & Johnson Medical Devices EMEA. He is responsible for guiding our business efforts in both mature and emerging markets throughout the region, overseeing the medical devices franchises in the region.

    Previously, Gavin served as Worldwide President, Ethicon Wound Closure & Healing, leading the global team and upholding the legacy of our market-leading wound closure portfolio while guiding the evolution of the business into the surgical tissue healing space. He also has held roles as Executive Vice President, Commercial at Mölnlycke, a medical device company focused on advancing performance in Wound Management and Surgical Solutions. He also held the roles of Global Vice President, Strategic Marketing, and Vice President Corporate Strategy & Business Development for Mölnlycke.

    Before joining Mölnlycke, Gavin held multiple International roles over more than a decade at Johnson & Johnson across our Medical Devices business. He served as Managing Director for Central & Eastern Europe and GM, Global Surgery for Czech Republic and Slovakia. Other leadership roles with J&J included Strategy and New Business Development Director for Emerging Markets, EMEA and other functions including Marketing, Market Access and Sales.

    Gavin holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Law from Carleton University, Canada, and an MBA from Queen’s University, Canada. He is Canadian by origin, and has lived in Germany, the Czech Republic, Sweden and the United States.
